From Gutters to Growth: The Story of Fife Roofers
It started with a ladder and a tin of paint. Fourteen years old, standing at the bottom, I was meant to be holding it steady while my mate worked above. One slip, one crash—and white paint exploded across the customer’s garden path. It took us four days to clean it. My dad, who was up on the roof, wasn’t happy. But I learned a lesson that stuck: always support the one climbing.
I grew up in Linktown, Kirkcaldy. Like many young lads, I went off track for a while—but roofing brought me back. My father ran a small building company in town. Working with him gave me purpose, then passion, then direction. I trained properly, got my accreditations, earned my stripes. Eventually, I launched my own roofing business, working all over Scotland—but Fife was always home. That’s where our name, Fife Roofers, came from. It’s more than a location. It’s a connection.
Grafted from the Ground Up
We didn’t start big. A few customers, mostly word-of-mouth. My dad’s reputation helped, sure, but we earned our own. And when bigger web firms like Yell didn’t deliver, we built our own website, did our own marketing, and created our own systems. It worked. We grew. Now we’re one of the top-rated roofing companies online in Fife—with dozens of returning customers, countless referrals, and a team that gets it right the first time.
What Makes Us Different
We don’t use subcontractors—ever. Every installer is part of our team. Trained by us, trusted by us. That’s why when there’s a follow-up, it’s the same people who fitted your roof who show up to sort it. We’ve even built a traffic-light response system to handle post-job feedback, snags, or fixes—fast, clear, and honest.
Our team includes me, my two sons, and three installation crews—nine roofers in total. My sons help run the business, gather materials, work jobs, and handle branding, marketing, and customer service. They’re the next generation of this company, and they’re not just learning the ropes—they’re helping shape the future of roofing in Fife.
Craftsmanship That Matters
We’re proud of all our work, but new tiled roofs, slate roofs, and conservatory roof replacements are where we truly shine. There’s nothing like transforming a freezing or sweltering conservatory into a space families can use year-round. Customers feel the difference immediately—and that feedback makes all the hard work worth it.
Whether it’s a full slate replacement in St Andrews with black zinc and rubber dormers, or a small tile repair in Dunfermline or Glenrothes, we approach each job with the same mindset: quality first, every time.
Rooted in Fife, Built for Scotland
We’re local through and through. I’ve lived across Kirkcaldy—from Linktown to the Dunnikier Estate—and now we’re based between Dundee Cairn and our yards in Glenrothes and Cupar. When we expanded into Dundee and Falkirk, we stayed true to our values—local roofers for local homes. That’s the core of the Roofing Company Scotland brand.
The Roofing Company Scotland: A Local-First Network
As Fife Roofers grew, something became clear—our name carried weight in Fife, but it didn’t quite fit in other towns where we were getting more and more calls. So, we created The Roofing Company Scotland. It’s not just a banner name. It’s the framework for how we do things the right way—locally.
Now we’ve launched Dundee Roofers, with its own yard and team of Dundee-based roofers who only work in Dundee and Tayside. The same with Falkirk Roofers—local lads working locally. We’ve got plans in motion for Perth Roofers and even an Edinburgh Roofers team. And with every branch, we keep the same promise: no subcontractors, no shortcuts. Just quality, community-focused roofing.
Looking Ahead
We’re not standing still. My sons and I constantly study the latest in roofing materials, from Firestone Rubber and EPDM to solar-ready systems. Our whole team trains regularly in new technologies and techniques. That means we’re ready not just for today’s roofs—but for tomorrow’s.
Fife Roofers isn’t just a company. It’s our story, built on ladders, lessons, and loyalty. And we’re proud to keep building it—one roof, one home, one happy customer at a time.
